TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO NAAA EXECUTIVE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO OFFICE

There was a serious effort by members of the General Council to remove certain members of the Executive at November's elections. This was the backlash from the positive drug test of Kellyann Baptiste and the expulsion of Semoy Hackett from the World championships in Moscow 2013. In spite of a media campaign on 91.1 radio station in Trinidad, the entire Executive was returned to office except for two small changes in Paul Voisin and Peter Samuel coming in to replace Durly Lucas and another female vice president. Mr Albert King put in a strong showing in contending with Doctor Ian Hypolite (Jehue Gordon's coach) for the post of 3rd Vice President as he secured 30 votes to Hypolite's 39 votes. There are allegations of a rigged election by the executive and evidence was clear that certain delegates were not attached to any functioning club who supported the elected executive. We await the outcome of action being taken by Rawle Raphael and his team to launch a formal enquiry into the November 2013 elections.

Now drug use in track and field spreads to the Caribbean

With the positive test on Kellyann Baptiste of Tobago and the re-imposing of the ban on Semoy Hackett for testing positive in the A and B samples earlier, there is now a black cloud hanging over the Caribbean athletes. This is compounded by the positive results on Asafa Powell and Veronica Campbell Brown and others of Jamaica for 2013.
